Abstract
Background: Full-mouth rehabilitation is a complex prosthodontic procedure, particularly in patients presenting with multiple missing teeth, reduced vertical dimension, and inadequate restorative space. Accurate treatment planning is critical to achieving optimal function, esthetics, and long-term stability. Objective: To highlight the role of diagnostic wax-up in evaluating restorative space, determining the appropriate vertical dimension, and guiding treatment planning in full-mouth rehabilitation. Materials and methods: This case report described a 54-year-old female patient presented with extensive tooth loss in both arches, anterior incisal wear, and decreased vertical dimension. Study casts were mounted on an articulator, and a diagnostic wax-up was performed to simulate occlusal relationships at an increased vertical dimension and to assess restorative space. The treatment plan included fixed prostheses in the maxillary arch and a removable partial denture with a metal framework in the mandibular arch. Results: Post-treatment evaluation demonstrated a stable occlusion, improved masticatory function, and enhanced facial esthetics. Conclusion: Diagnostic wax-up plays a pivotal role in full-mouth rehabilitation by enabling the assessment of restorative space, facilitating determination of an appropriate vertical dimension, and supporting the selection of optimal prosthodontic strategies prior to irreversible procedures.
