Abstract
The analysis of Korean popular music censorship mainly focuses on the period from the Japanese colonial period to the 1990s, regarding the subjects of inspection and censorship (lyrics, singers, composers, etc.) and the censorship organizations. Changes in censorship regulations occurred after 2000, particularly since 2008; however, these changes during this period have yet to be carefully studied. Through a thorough analysis of previous studies and Korean press articles, this paper focuses on the changes in popular music censorship regulations from 2008 to the present. This analysis helps clarify the political and social significance of this phenomenon, as well as the Korean public's reactions to it.
